When it comes to LCN’s Cross Country Team, dedication is number one. Their first race of the season, September 6, was held at Cass Benton Park on University of Detroit’s campus, The Titan Invitational.

All the long, hard summer practices were finally paying off. Thomas Michno ’17 was the individual champion. Michno ran 5,000 meters in 16:24.71, placing first. Karenna Duffey ’18 placed third in her very first 5,000-meter high school Cross Country race, running 19:16.02. Both teams showed much improvement and hopes are held high this season.

“This season, I’m just hoping that the boys’ season is a success,” said Michael Zonca ’16.

Recently, the boys’ Cross Country Team moved to a higher division. Before they were a part of the White Division and now they have advanced into the Red Division.

On September 20, LCN’s cross country team competed at The Old Skool Classic at Wolcott Farm.

Nick Actis ’14 said, “At the Old Skool meet, we have to run through small rivers and run a 5k.”

LCN’s Cross Country Team has 12 meets a year, running from August to November. At each meet normally 10 schools compete, which turns out to be about 300 or more competitors. Their next meet will be at Metro Beach on October 18.
