Editorial: When LCN “bands” together…

William Shakespeare once wrote, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” The Marching Crusaders continue to outdo their great achievements of years past.

The hard work the students, staff members, and parents put into the band program is commendable. The talent is through the roof at North, and the band seems to never fail us. Not only did they support the team at home football games, but also they participated in marching competitions through the fall.

They placed in second at the Chippewa Valley Scholastic competition which was the first of the season. Also, they received caption awards for best percussion and best guard. Following this competition they earned sixth place at the MCBA Great Lakes Invitational. At the Clarkston Invitational they placed in seventh, and at the Troy Athens Invitational they came in fourth place. At their MCBA State Finals at Ford Field on November 1, the Marching Crusaders came in eleventh place. This is the first time the band has gone to states.

Not once does the band expect a great outcome simply because they are that fantastic, but because they put in immense hours both in and out of school to be this amazing.

As a school, I do not think we have ever been this supportive of our band as we have in the past couple years, except this year. The band has made a mark that will live with this school forever. A legacy has been born, no doubt.
