Black lights and glow sticks. Something new is coming to the students of

LCN: “Glowcoming”.

Although Student Council has hosted a “Glowcoming” in the past, it has never been held while any of the current students attended LCN. The last Glowcoming was held in 2011.

The dance will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 7 p.m.

“Student Council is very excited to be putting on this dance. A lot of people were requesting that they wanted to have another dance but something that was semi-formal. We have put a lot of work into it and hope that it is a success!” said Lauren Zielinski ’15, StuCo president.

Glowcoming is basically a winter homecoming. The only difference is that instead of formal attire, it is semi-formal. Therefore, girls don’t have to spend a lot of money on a fancy, expensive dress, they can get something a little more plain and simple. Boys do not have to wear a suit eith. They could show up in khakis and a polo shirt.

“I don’t like the attire for the dance, I think it should be formal attire because it looks better,” said Conner Stempien ’15.

The dance will feature black lights and glow sticks. Instead of getting a paper ticket to get in to the dance, each student will receive a glow stick bracelet as their ticket.

“I am going to Glowcoming and I’m pretty excited because I think it will be fun and we’ve never had a winter dance before so it is something new,” said Lindsey Sutter ’15.

Proceeds from the dance will go toward a charity selected by Student Council.

During the week before the dance, there will be a Cancer Awareness Week. Each day there is a different color to represent awareness about a cancer that has affected somebody within the LCPS district. See the sidebar for specifics.
